The person in distress had visited the Sapporo Taines Ski Resort and was skiing from the North Face Course in the Highland Zone out of the ski resort course management area at around 9:30 a.m. when he wandered into a forest road in the northwest direction from the ski resort and was unable to return to the ski resort. At around 11:30 a.m. on the same day, he called 119 and requested rescue. A Hokkaido Police helicopter found the person in distress and rescued him.
